Lena Serghides

Lena Serghides is a Pillar Leader at Sandra A. Rotman Laboratories, McLaughlin Rotman Centre for Global Health within the Translational Research Pillar.

Severe malaria syndromes such as cerebral malaria are at least partly the result of uncontrolled host immune responses to the parasite.  Lena's research focuses on understanding of how these immune responses contribute to the development of severe malaria syndromes, and in the development of therapeutic interventions that modulate the host immune response to improve outcome.

Additionally, she investigates how components of the innate immune response to malaria infection shape the development of adaptive immunity to malaria.
