Peter Singer on innovation and global health, and the role of the G8/G20 - National Post & The Mark

Peter Singer, CEO of Grand Challenges Canada, had two articles published this week.  The first was an op ed which appeared Monday in the National Post.  The opinion piece follows the G8 and G20 meetings in Muskoka and Toronto last week and highlights the crucial role of innovation in addressing the challenges of maternal and child health. Also featured is a description of Grand Challenges Canada, the new and unique Canadian not-for-profit which focuses on innovation to address global health conditions.

The second was published in The Mark, a well respected Canadian on-line newsletter which provides an opportunity for Canadians to discuss and debate current issues. In the article, Peter makes the case for innovation in the international aid budget, identifies the benefits of Grand Challenges Canada’s first grand challenge, point of care diagnostics, and explains how Grand Challenges Canada will support developing world scientists and Canadian scientists working together to find health solutions.  Grand Challenges Canada represents a new and important role for Canada in the world.
